Treatment at Laguna Beach Recovery
Questions & Answers

Laguna Beach Recovery offers a structured continuum of care that includes detoxification services, residential treatment, therapy and counseling, dual-diagnosis treatment, relapse prevention, and aftercare planning. Treatment is designed to help clients stabilize safely, begin meaningful recovery work, and build a stronger foundation for long-term sobriety. Each treatment plan is individualized based on clinical needs, mental health history, substance use patterns, and recovery goals.

Yes. Detox services are provided in Laguna Beach for clients who need a safe, supportive setting to begin recovery. Detox is often the first step for people who are physically dependent on alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or other substances and may experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop using. The goal of detox is to help clients become medically and emotionally stable before transitioning into the next phase of treatment.

Detox length varies based on the substance involved, the amount and duration of use, withdrawal risk, medical factors, and mental health needs. Many clients complete detox within about 5 to 10 days, but some may need more or less time depending on their situation. The length of detox is determined by what is safest and most clinically appropriate for each client.

Residential treatment length depends on each client’s needs, progress, and discharge plan. Many stays are around 30 to 45 days, though some clients may benefit from a shorter or longer length of stay. Treatment is designed to provide enough time for stabilization, therapy, skill-building, relapse prevention, and planning for the next step in recovery.

Treatment is available for alcohol and a wide range of drugs, including opioids, fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, crack, benzodiazepines such as Xanax, prescription medication misuse, emerging drugs such as 7OH, and polysubstance use. Care is individualized because treatment needs depend not only on the substance involved, but also on withdrawal risk, mental health symptoms, relapse history, and the overall clinical picture.

Yes. Many people struggling with substance use disorders also experience mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, or other psychiatric symptoms. When substance use and mental health issues occur together, both need to be addressed for treatment to be effective. This is often referred to as dual-diagnosis treatment.

Dual diagnosis treatment means treating both substance use and mental health conditions at the same time. Rather than focusing only on drug or alcohol use, treatment also addresses underlying emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues that may contribute to substance use or relapse. This whole-person approach often leads to a more stable and lasting recovery.

Treatment may include a combination of evidence-based and holistic approaches such as individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), relapse prevention, coping skills development, mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and other recovery-focused services. The goal is to address both the clinical and practical sides of healing so clients leave treatment with tools they can actually use in daily life.

Admissions usually begins with a confidential call to discuss current substance use, mental health concerns, treatment history, insurance or payment questions, and what level of care may be appropriate. From there, the admissions team helps guide the next steps, answer questions, and coordinate entry into treatment as smoothly as possible. The goal is to make the process clear, supportive, and as stress-free as possible during a difficult time.

In many cases, yes. Same-day admissions may be available depending on clinical appropriateness, bed availability, insurance verification, and transportation logistics. Reaching out as early as possible helps the admissions team determine how quickly treatment can begin.

Yes. Privacy and discretion are taken seriously throughout the admissions and treatment process, and Laguna Beach Recovery strictly adheres to all HIPAA guidelines to protect client information. From the first phone call forward, personal health information is handled with care, confidentiality, and respect. Many clients and families want reassurance that seeking help will remain private, and protecting that privacy is a core part of the treatment experience.

Many PPO insurance plans and other major insurance plans may be accepted, depending on the policy and available benefits. Coverage can vary based on factors such as medical necessity, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and authorization requirements. Our admissions team can verify insurance benefits confidentially so clients and families have a clearer understanding of what may be covered.

Insurance benefits can usually be verified by completing the insurance form on the website or by calling the admissions team directly. Verification helps clarify what services may be covered, whether prior authorization is needed, and what out-of-pocket responsibilities may apply. Verifying benefits does not obligate anyone to enter treatment.

It is still worth calling. Even without insurance, there may be options worth discussing, and the admissions team can help explain what the next steps may look like. Many people assume treatment is out of reach before they have a full picture of their options, so having a direct conversation is often the best place to start.

A person may need detox if they are likely to experience withdrawal symptoms or have been using substances in a way that makes stopping unsafe or very difficult without support. A person may need residential treatment if they need 24/7 structure, are at high risk of relapse, do not have a stable recovery environment, or need a more immersive level of care. The appropriate level of treatment depends on safety, substance use history, mental health, and overall clinical need.

Not always. The best level of care depends on the severity of the addiction, withdrawal risk, mental health needs, relapse history, and the stability of the home environment. Residential treatment is often a better fit for people who need more structure, more distance from triggers, or a more intensive therapeutic setting. Outpatient treatment may be appropriate for others once they are stable enough for a lower level of care.

Yes. Family involvement can be an important part of recovery when it is clinically appropriate. Family therapy, education, and communication support can help loved ones better understand addiction, develop healthier boundaries, and become part of a stronger recovery plan. In many cases, healing family relationships is an important part of long-term success.

The treatment environment is designed to be private, comfortable, and deeply supportive of the recovery process. In addition to a calm and individualized setting, Laguna Beach Recovery places real emphasis on amenities and overall comfort so clients can settle in, feel more at ease, and focus fully on healing. When someone is stepping away from the chaos, stress, and instability that often surround active substance use, the physical environment matters. A more comfortable setting can help clients feel safer, more grounded, and more able to engage in treatment, rest, and the day-to-day work of recovery.

Yes. No two clients come into treatment with the exact same background, substance use history, mental health needs, or recovery goals. Treatment plans are individualized so care can be tailored to each person’s clinical needs and adjusted as progress is made.

Recovery does not end when a primary stay is over. Discharge planning and aftercare support help clients prepare for the next step, which may include outpatient treatment, therapy, sober living, support groups, wellness planning, or other continued care recommendations. A thoughtful transition plan can make a major difference in early recovery.

Yes. We are fully licensed to provide substance use detoxification and residential treatment by the California Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS). Licensing and regulatory compliance are important parts of operating a treatment program responsibly. Many clients and families look for a licensed facility because it provides an added level of accountability, oversight, and trust.

Laguna Beach Recovery is located in Laguna Beach, California, serving clients locally and from throughout Orange County and beyond. The location offers a private coastal setting that many clients and families find appealing when seeking treatment in Southern California.

Yes. Calling does not mean you are committing to anything. Many people reach out when they are still trying to understand options, compare levels of care, or decide what makes sense for themselves or a loved one. A confidential conversation can help provide clarity without pressure.

Call as soon as possible. If a loved one may need treatment, an admissions conversation can help determine what level of care may be appropriate and how quickly help may be available. If there is an overdose, medical emergency, suicidal behavior, or immediate danger, call 911 or emergency services in your region right away.

Yes. You can bring your phone, laptop, and other portable technology to Laguna Beach Recovery. Access to phones and communication devices is individualized on a case-by-case basis with your clinical team and is often more limited during detoxification, when the focus is on stabilization, safety, and adjusting to treatment. Many business owners, professionals, and other clients with ongoing responsibilities choose treatment at Laguna Beach Recovery, and treatment plans are tailored to the needs of each person, including reasonable access to technology when clinically appropriate.

Yes. Smoking and vaping are permitted in designated outdoor areas at each property. For the comfort of all clients and in keeping with California smoke-free standards, smoking and vaping are never allowed indoors and are not permitted within 20 feet of entryways or operable windows. E-cigarettes are treated the same way as other smoking devices in California’s smoke-free framework, so the same location rules apply. If you have questions about where smoking or vaping is allowed, the admissions team can explain the current property guidelines before arrival.

Yes. Laguna Beach Recovery accepts clients with many types of pets. Pets are generally welcome as long as they meet standard vaccination requirements, temperament expectations, and any other applicable program policies. Because each pet and situation is reviewed individually, it is best to discuss your pet with admissions ahead of time so the team can confirm whether arrangements can be made and explain any specific guidelines.
